“The french painter Le Douanier Rousseau, well know for his luxuriant and lyrical jungles, never left France. Actually he never left Paris. At the turn of the century, he found his inspiration from books, taxidermy shops and the public gardens of Paris. He would visit frequently the great greenhouse of the Jardin des Plantes, about which he said, “When I go into the glass houses and I see the strange plants of exotic lands, it seems to me that I enter into a dream.” And this is exactly it. Under a shell of metal and glass, grow and crawl the most wonderful breadth of exoticism to be found in the Capital.”
