“I was commissioned to photograph Gleisdreieck as part of a collaborative series between Le Monde M and The Garden Edit. It just so happened that until very recently I lived round the corner from Gleisdreieck so it was interesting observing a place that I am visually very used to with a keener focus. I spent the most part of a dry June day wandering around the abandoned railway lines and basketball courts of the park. Like much of Berlin, Gleisdreieck has a real sense of sprawl to it. Despite the park being busy, it still felt very quiet, and that allowed me to capture small intimate scenes alongside wider panoramics. I really love that Gleisdreieck is a functional park; people go there to eat, to run, to meditate, to party. I suppose that is what people generally do in parks but for me there is something quite unique in the energy there. The images that you see are an attempt to capture small flickers of that feeling.”
