Handcrafted by American designer Dana Bechert. Influenced by the traditional Acoma Pueblo style of Native American pottery, her ceramics are both abstract and intricate. Bechert graduated in 2012 with a degree in sculpture from Maryland Institute College of Art and exhibits throughout the United States.
This vase is wheel thrown and made from vitrified English porcelain. The inside is glazed, whilst the outside is unglazed and textured through patternation. The imagery is achieved through the sgrafitto technique in which the surface is painted with pigmented clay and then carved away to reveal the white body underneath.
