Following her graduation from the Australian National Art School in 2012, ceramist Alana Wilson's work has been seen in various galleries around the world including Jasmin Shokrian Atelier, Los Angeles and Sabbi Gallery, Sydney. Her work explores both primitive and contemporary aesthetics and techniques in order to embrace elements of texture and a calm tonality. She notes, “I use extremely minimal synthetic ingredients and my work involves the harmonising of specific minerals in both the clay body and glazes. The scientific side of ceramics contributes to my work just as much as its aesthetic counterpart.”
This vase is made from terracotta with soda and barium glazes. This piece was commissioned by The Garden Edit for the exhibition Pot Plant, as part of the 2016 London Design Festival.
